On Journaling

Recently, I have had a number of people reach out to me and ask me about journaling. What I write about, how it helps, what my routine is like. Things like that. I love talking about journaling with other people. It reminds me why I find so much joy and peace in it.
I joke and say if every single person spent more time journaling each day, week, or even month, the world would look like a very different place. In my opinion, it is one of the most introspective things we can do. It’s vulnerable and so exposing of the parts of us that we oftentimes don’t want anyone to see; we don’t even want to face them in privacy. Journaling is asking yourself those deeper questions. Sure they may sound pretty common like, “how are you doing?” But give that an honest answer and you might never look at that question the same. It’s bringing light to the dark and setting it free forever! I think there’s huge power in acknowledging our thoughts, our emotions, our actions. Seriously, why do we do the things we do? Or feel the things we feel? I can guarantee putting them all out on paper 100% beats the alternative of keeping them inside. All that does is create this dense cloud around our light!! Even if journaling for you looks like a bulleted list of your day’s activities at first, this is still way more productive than you think. Sometimes it’s not until we have a list like this in front of us that we realize our energy is going into so many, often unfulfilling, activities! I’ve realized how important being intentional about the kind of people we want to be and the life we want to live is, and putting words to these thoughts is such a powerful tool! You’ve got to start somewhere, and it’s never too late to become the person you want to be.
Just some of my wild thoughts on a wild Saturday night. Love love loveee.
