Goooood morning, sweet people!
How is everyone?! There are a few new friends getting this email right now- if you're one of them, hi (: I see you. Thanks so much for being here. For those of you who have been here a hot minute, hi, I see you, too! And I'm so freaking grateful for each of you!!
These emails are typically sent out on the first Monday morning of each month, but here we are on a Tuesday?… say what? On that note, real talk here just for a moment. I have been running around sooOooo busy this last week- transitioning into a new job, slowly getting back into our own home here in Wilmington, Arden starting not 1, but 2 jobs lol.
I put most of my effort into these emails the week before sending them out, so it's been a little rough. I was spending time with 2 of my closest girls two nights ago (hi Kel & Nikki!!) and I was explaining to them how stressed I felt all day because I just knew I needed to get this email done so it could be sent out first thing in the morning. Then I thought to myself, "ya know what would just take this pressure off of me? Not sending this damn email at the crack of dawn. It's not that deep. Enjoy the beautiful day that is before you, and if you send it out in the afternoon, or god forbid Tuesday, it is going to be okay." And sure, we don't always have that option or that flexibility with commitments, but I think it's still important to consider the constraints we put upon ourselves, oftentimes unnecessarily. So here I am, showing up raw, imperfectly and a bit rushed, but I bet I'm not the only one out there. We're in it together, baby.
Let's get to it, shall we?! March's newsletter is intended to be short and sweet! Can ya'll feel this goodness coming?! The days, slowly but surely, getting longer and brighter. The hint of spring in the air. It's definitely happening here in NC. There's also some of you all who get this email and live on the opposite hemisphere (which is wiiiiild!). Regardless, those transitions are among us all and it's a nice time to reevaluate. Or on theme for our newsletter- reset & realign. Spring time is like the best for not only clearing out and cleaning out some of our spaces, but also in our minds and bodies! That decluttering is so helpful for us to approach a new time with clarity, perspective, and honestly, a little space to breathe. I thought I’d share a little of what has been helping me and what I want to try and implement this month, in order to really reset and realign myself:
-brain dumping: getting out every single thing that's on my mind that feels maybe a bit overwhelming and highlighting what to prioritize
-deep breathing!!! Always. Our breath is our power. Always learning how to better regulate, process and breathe more efficiently.
-morning light ritual: trying to get sunlight within the first hour or two of waking (okay this is harrrrd for my 4am risers like me lol but we try!)
-time in nature: more walks, picnics on the grass, or sitting outside to catch up
-digital detox: setting time limits on social media apps and/or unfollowing or muting accounts that aren't offering something valuable to the SM experience
-enjoying no plans: not filling empty time so there is no longer that sense of freedom and flexibility
As we see and notice the people and world around us coming back to life, let's celebrate that. Comparison is not our assignment. Growth is rarely loud, and healing is rarely linear. We're all on our own paths, and one of the most helpful and rewarding things we can do, is make the journey even slightly less stressful for someone. Kindness is felt, and that positivity has a ripple effect out into the world. Changing this world with one ounce of a kindness at a time, baby (: You're part of that- we're all part of it!Take care of yourselves this month, so we can continue taking care of the people we love and even strangers. Create that space in your own mind and body, first.
We are all deserving of that.
I hope to see you all very soon.
